The latest news from the worlds leading authorities on this subject now say that the poeple who are most protected from all the chronic deseases especially all the cancers are poeple who frequent tanning salons all year round.
Diseases caused by insufficient vitamin D include not only bone conditions such as osteoporosis and rickets but high blood pressure, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and probably several different kinds of cancer.
Exposure to summer sun improves survival from cancer according to Professor Johan Moan of the Institute for Cancer Research in Oslo, Norway, who has studied what happened to all the people diagnosed with cancer in Norway between 1964 and 2000. He found that the risk of a person dying within three years of diagnosis with prostate, breast, colon, or lung cancer, or with Hodgkins lymphoma is up to 50 per cent lower for those diagnosed during summer and autumn compared with winter.
"In Britain, practically no vitamin D is generated in the skin during the winter months because solar radiation contains too little ultraviolet B," says Professor Moan. "In summer, calcidiol, a form of vitamin D that circulates in blood, is up to 100 per cent greater than in winter. Calcidiol protects against these cancers. We have also found that the risk of death from cancer varies in Norway from one part of the country to another, depending on the amount of solar radiation that is received."
In the UK the risk of getting prostate cancer has also been found to vary with the amount of sun a man is exposed to. Men who sunbathe, have holidays in sunny climates have a lower risk of prostate cancer. (In these observations sunburn is simply a sign of heavy sun exposure.
Dr. Marc Sorenson
Health and fitness expert Dr. Marc Sorenson knows that sun exposure is the
body's natural way to make vitamin D.
"I used to cover up and use suncream when I went
out walking in the hills but now I don’t. I try to get as much sun as I can
safely," he says.

More for expectant mothers: will your baby be born with a soft skull due to your
vitamin D deficiency?
Craniotabes is a skull condition characterized by thin, soft areas, and it has
recently been defined as the earliest sign of vitamin D deficiency in
newborns.[1] It may signal impending rickets, but until recently, it was
considered a physiological anomaly needing no treatment. Obviously, any newborn
diagnosed with craniotabes should be immediately checked for vitamin D
deficiency to avert full-blown rickets.
Remember that it is virtually impossible for a newborn to be vitamin D deficient
if the mother’s blood is replete (full 100%) with vitamin D. And as we have
already discussed in a previous post, it is imperative that a woman who is
breastfeeding take in 6,400 IU of vitamin D3 daily in order to maintain
optimal levels in both herself and her infant. The best way of achieving this
level is by ultraviolet light as the top research scientist do not know yet if
supplements have the same potency as the natural syntheses in the skin by uv
light.
Moms, you are responsible for the health of your infant; you need sunlight or
supplements. Act now!
A simple benefit versus risk ratio supports our position. Our data shows that
500 to 1,000 individuals die prematurely each year due to the adverse
consequences of underexposure to UVR
for every one individual who dies prematurely each year due to the adverse consequences of overexposure please note not exposure but overexposure to UVR. And you don’t have to just take our word for it. A recent study, titled “Estimating the Global Disease Burden Due to Ultraviolet Radiation,” stated that the relative risk of underexposure to UVR was 3,000 times greater than the relative risk of overexposure to UVR. This new data indicates that our 500 – 1,000 to 1 ratio between the risks of underexposure and overexposure to UVR is actually too conservative—a 2,000 – 3,000 to 1 benefit versus risk ratio is more realistic. More true and proven facts to prove why ultraviolet light is essential to stop the one billion poeple (pandemic) dying through out the world due to the lack of sunshine. That figure in the uk alone is over 20,000 dying every year yes 20,000 :now that is what you call a silent epidemic.
